POSITION SUMMARY

The University of New Orleans is seeking qualified candidates for a full time Electronics Manager to maintain and service the research and teaching instrumentation in the Department of Chemistry and Advanced Materials Research Institute (AMRI). The successful candidate will head our Chemistry Department Electronics Shop supporting the maintenance and repair of our extensive instrumentation holdings (such as NMR, GC-MS, LC-MS, FTIR, etc.) while providing assistance to other Departments in the College of Science when possible (microscopes, magnetic characterization, etc). Qualified candidates will possess significant knowledge of analog and digital electronics theory and good troubleshooting skills. Experience in the repair and maintenance of chemical and analytical instrumentation used in research and teaching environments would be a strong plus. The ideal applicant should be self-motivated and have outstanding communication skills.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities will include routine maintenance, repair, working with outside technicians for major maintenance, providing support in instructional and research activities and consulting on the development of experimental protocols in the Department of Chemistry and AMRI.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree. Five (5) years of professional level experience in scientific research and/or major instrumentation repair and upkeep is also acceptable.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and ten (10) years of professional level experience in scientific research and/or major instrumentation repair and upkeep.


SALARY

Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
